Charters are tailored to suit the needs of the individual parties, whether it is laid back inter-island exploration, a hard core fishing, kayaking or diving adventure on some spectacular reefs or just a great time relaxing with good friends and family.
A typical 7 day itinerary could include:
Day 1: Departures are from the Slipway in Msasani Bay, Dar-es-Salaam. Following a short 3–4 hour sail across the channel to the southern tip of Zanzibar, spend the afternoon and night on anchor in the tranquility of Kizimkazi Marine Park, home of the dolphins and enjoy the spectacular snorkeling and marine life on offer here in crystal clear waters.
Day 2: Sail north through the many small islands and reefs towards Stone Town, anchor at one of the uninhabited pristine islands for lunch and swimming before moving on to Mtoni Marine Resort for sundowners and a spectacular sunset over Prison Island or explore the adjoining Mbweni ruins.
Day 3: Take a 10 minute Dala-Dala trip (local taxi bus) into Stone Town for a day’s exploration, sightseeing and shopping in this exotic world heritage site, visit the slave market, House of Wonders or take in a spice tour. Be sure to sample the evening food market along the foreshore.
Day 4: Continue sailing north past Mangapwani, a slave trader and pirate hideaway to Ras Nungwi, the French Riviera of Zanzibar on the very northern tip of the island. Enjoy the vibrant nightlife, entertainment and exotic foods and drinks on offer at one of the many local beach bars and restaurants.
Day 5: Spend the day lazing on the spectacular beaches of Ras Nungwi and Kendwa Rocks, take a walk through the local fishing village and watch local craftsmen building Dhows on the beach the traditional way using only hand tools or let us arrange a dive trip for you with one of the many dive operators here.
Day 6: Sail back across the Zanzibar Channel to Lazy Lagoon on the mainland, explore the historic sights of Bagamoyo and Kaole Ruins, the original centre of the slave trade and eventual resting place of Stanley – or just enjoy the natural beauty and tranquility of Lazy Lagoon and Mwambakuni island.
Day 7: Depart and return to Dar-es-Salaam.
Alternately, with a private charter you can decide on how long, where to go and when to go in consultation with your captain, as the yacht is all yours! We will provide the crew and catering to your taste, but booking and pre-planning is essential to get the most from your trip.
